Nicole Taylor, a country music singer and one-third of the popular trio Taylor Red, has died at 35 after battling an aggressive form of breast cancer. Her death has left her two sisters, who were also her bandmates, grieving the loss of someone they described as their leader and best friend. Nicole’s sisters, Nika and Natalie Taylor, announced her passing in an emotional video shared on November 2, revealing that their sister died on September 28, 2026, at her home in Nashville, Tennessee.
The sisters said Nicole was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in 2022. The news came as a shock to the family, but Nicole remained hopeful throughout much of her fight. Her sisters recalled how she believed God would use her illness for a greater purpose. They also described the cancer as particularly aggressive, explaining that it eventually returned and progressed to Stage 4.

Nicole initially responded well to treatment. At one point, her sisters said doctors found no evidence of the disease. She even completed treatment and rang the bell, giving the family reason to hope that she had overcome the illness. However, that relief did not last. The cancer eventually returned, and Nicole had to face another difficult round of treatment.

Despite the physical demands of her illness, Nicole continued to live an active life. Her sisters recalled that she kept up with CrossFit even while receiving chemotherapy. She also continued working and traveling rather than allowing her diagnosis to completely take over her life. According to her sisters, she remained determined to enjoy her time and rarely allowed fear to control her decisions.
As the disease advanced, Nicole’s condition became more serious. Her sisters revealed that doctors eventually gave her a prognosis of just three months. However, she lived for approximately another year. Nika and Natalie said their sister continued encouraging them through the difficult period, even when they were frightened about what might happen. They remembered her as someone who regularly tried to reassure the people around her.
Nicole was also known for her close relationship with her sisters. The three were identical triplets who grew up in Mississippi and built their music careers together. They initially performed as Red Roots before becoming known as Taylor Red in 2018. Their music career included the albums Red Roots, The Middle of Nowhere and Triplicity. Their performances, online videos and country music recordings helped them develop a large following.
The sisters also remembered Nicole as the oldest of the three, describing her as their fearless leader. They said she was the person who often spoke up for them and stood by them when they needed support. Their announcement made clear that losing her was not simply the loss of a bandmate but the loss of a sister who had been part of their lives from the very beginning.
In announcing her death, Natalie and Nika said they had never imagined making such a video. They had hoped Nicole would recover and share her own story of healing. Instead, they found themselves telling the story after her passing. Natalie said they had once expected to witness her healing on earth, but now believed she had found healing in heaven.
The family has already held a private funeral service. Taylor Red’s official website also provides information for people who wish to honor Nicole through donations to one of her favorite charities, Samaritan’s Purse. Her sisters said they were heartbroken by her death but remained thankful that she was no longer suffering. For the two women who shared a lifetime with Nicole, her absence leaves a painful gap in both their family and the music career they built together.
