A 65-year-old Newnan woman was taken into custody after a vehicle she was driving struck and killed 39-year-old Zachary Oxford in his driveway before crashing into his home. The deadly incident happened Wednesday afternoon on Old Corinth Road in Coweta County, Georgia, and ended with the driver being found by deputies in a nearby field.
The Georgia State Patrol identified the driver as Donna Arnold, 65, of Newnan. According to preliminary information, Arnold was traveling along Earl North Road when her vehicle crashed through a fence and continued onto Old Corinth Road.

Oxford was standing in the driveway of his home when the vehicle struck him. The car did not stop after hitting him. Instead, it continued forward and crashed into the house, leaving behind a deadly scene.
The collision claimed Oxford’s life. He was 39 years old. Authorities later confirmed his identity as investigators worked to establish exactly how the vehicle ended up striking him and crashing into the residence.
What happened immediately after the collision also became part of the investigation. According to the Georgia State Patrol, Arnold got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. She reportedly ran from the scene before Coweta County Sheriff’s Office deputies found her in a field near the property.
Deputies subsequently took Arnold into custody. Her arrest came after the deadly collision had left Oxford dead at his own home. Authorities had not announced the exact charges she would face in the latest report.
The Georgia State Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash. Officials are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the vehicle’s movement from Earl North Road, through the fence and onto Old Corinth Road, where it struck Oxford before crashing into the house.
For Oxford’s family and friends, the investigation comes amid the sudden loss of a 39-year-old loved one. The circumstances are particularly painful because he was standing in the driveway of his own home when the vehicle struck him.
The case now leaves two major questions for investigators: what caused the vehicle to leave its original roadway, and what charges will follow against the driver? Authorities have not provided further answers in the latest report.
As the investigation continues, Oxford’s loved ones are left to grieve a death that happened in a place where he should have been able to go about his day without fear of such a tragedy.
